ATTENTION: Special Notice – Insurance Council of Saskatchewan

Dear LLQP Candidates,

We do hope that you are all in good health amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

We would like to provide you with an update received from the Insurance Council of Saskatchewan as it relates to obtaining a Life Licence and the relief provided due to the Covid-19.

In order to obtain a Life Licence, an individual must complete a course of study with an Approved LLQP Course Provider, receive a certification of course completion from that provider, and then pass the four modules of the LLQP.  As part of that process, there are two deadlines that the student must keep in mind, specifically:

  • The certificate of course completion from the Approved Course Provider is only good for one year.  The student must successfully pass the LLQP exam modules through Council within that year, or apply to be recertified by the Course Provider.
  • The modular exam results are also only good for one year.  The student must pass all four modules and obtain licensing within that year, or they would have to rewrite any modules that went beyond the one year deadline.

Covid-19 caused Council to suspend exam writing in March, which would obviously impact a student’s ability to complete the above requirements in the time periods specified.  To provide relief from that, Council has agreed that:

  • anyone whose course certification was set to expire after March 1, 2020 would have the certification extended to December 31, 2020;
  • anyone who had passed a module of LLQP that was set to expire after March 1, 2020 would have the validity of that exam result extended to December 31, 2020.

Please continue to check the website at https://www.skcouncil.sk.ca/ for further updates.

We wish you the best as you continue to prepare for your LLQP exams.
