Greg Pollock Appointed to the FSRA Stakeholder Advisory Committee for Financial Planners and Financial Advisors

October 6, 2022 – Greg Pollock, President and CEO of Advocis, The Financial Advisors Association of Canada, has been appointed to the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA)’s Stakeholder Advisory Committee for Financial Planners and Financial Advisors.

This standing multi-year committee will play an important role in enhancing FSRA’s regulatory efficiency and effectiveness to establish minimum standards for credentialing bodies and Financial Planner and Financial Advisor credentials across Canada.

The Financial Planners and Financial Advisors SAC mandate includes:

  • Informing FSRA’s annual business planning, with a focus on the Financial Planners and Financial Advisors-related priorities and budget that will guide FSRA’s operations and regulatory activity, before they are published and delivered to the Minister of Finance
  • Providing feedback to the FSRA Board on FSRA rule-making activity in the Financial Planners and Financial Advisors sector where the Board believes that, given the complexity and importance of a specific rule and the issues identified by FSRA Management, the Board will benefit from direct engagement with the sector via the SAC
  • Upon request, provide a forum for input on Financial Planners and Financial Advisors sector issues, FSRA priorities and other initiatives or activities involving FSRA

“This is a very important time for the industry, and we are pleased that as the largest voluntary professional member association for financial advisors in Canada, the voice of our member advisors and planners will be represented at the table,” says Greg Pollock. “I look forward to joining the Advisory Committee as we work to address emerging trends and consumer issues relating to the Financial Professionals Title Protection Framework,” he adds.

As the President and CEO of Advocis, Pollock is responsible for providing effective strategic leadership and direction and oversees all aspects of Advocis’ day-to-day activities. He is also the Chief Operating Officer of The Institute for Advanced Financial Education (IAFE), the leading designation body in Canada for financial services practitioners in the areas of wealth transfer, estate planning and living benefits.
